I use my T.V. as my computer monitor with the occasional movie. However, after several recommendations, I decided to watch this T.V. Series and I'm so glad I did. Wow. Just wow! I'm in love with the writing, the cast, the entire family, Jack and Rebecca's love story, how it links the important role siblings play in our lives and mostly-Jack's character. There is so much to this series it is stunning. | |
On a personal level, right from the start, I'm personally impacted by scene's like this. Love this doctor.
As he shares about his 5 children and his 11 grandchildren...he also shares....."But there's not a single day that goes by that I don't think of the child I lost, and I'm an old man now..."
"The sourest lemon that life has to offer and turned it into something resembling lemonade....."
That wasn't my story and I don't actually think of Donovan every single day but he does still exist for me. This month in particular and I wondered as I was watching this - if I was having such a hard time letting some things go this month "in particular," simply because it is this month. It's totally possible because when I remember this about my own story, I understand myself better. I find myself saying to myself "oh right! There is this thing that happens to you every year-in February!" This is a part of why I create this month as the month of love. Because when I give this part of my family-life story presence and create something with it...it doesn't take me down, it lifts me up instead.
In fact:
Anyway....
This Is Us...I look forward to seeing the next two episodes next month and gosh ,what a beautiful way to close out the month of February...what a wonderful opportunity to feel... and to experience the love of family...All of it...
I think this show has a lot of healing power for families. Often when we are in it too closely - we can not see...through other stories...we are able to see or feel something that is meant for us to see or feel and sometimes that is enough to bring us back into our family love and/or to heal what needs to be healed. Or even just to see the broader story when we can't.
Stay tuned
